For Authors
Submit Manuscript-
Manuscripts relating to intellectual property matters may be submitted for consideration for publication. AIPLA only accepts submissions of previously unpublished work. The Journal has a strict first-publication policy.
-
Authors should submit an electronic copy of the manuscript to the journal offices at aipla.submisisons@law.gwu.edu. Submission of a manuscript implies that it is an original, unpublished work. Student members of AIPLA should indicate (1) their student membership in AIPLA upon submission to be considered for publication (2) as a Note in the Journal.
-
Manuscripts (text and footnotes) should be typewritten and double-spaced with one inch margins. All pages should be consecutively numbered. Footnotes should be numbered consecutively with Arabic numbers. The total number of words including the text and footnotes should be between 5,000 and 20,000 words (approximately 25-50 pages, double-spaced).
-
In preparing text and footnotes, authors should consult the style presented in The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (Columbia Law Review et al. eds., 19th ed. or newest version available). Parallel citation to U.S.P.Q. should be included where applicable. For questions of literary style not included in The Bluebook, authors should consult The Chicago Manual of Style (University of Chicago Press, 16th ed. 2010, or newest version available).
-
All citations should be placed in the footnotes, even if the authority is mentioned in the text.
-
The editors reserve the right to make alterations and corrections for grammar and syntax.
-
To preserve professional objectivity, it is assumed that, absent appropriate disclosure, an article is not based upon a pending or recently concluded litigation in which the author(s) or the authors’ firm are or were involved as counsel of record.
